10 Oct Moving targets Very soon I shall be climbing my final Munro - a Scottish mountain over 3000 feet high. When I started the Munros back in 1996 there were 277 of them but over the years there have been a couple of changes as to the exact criteria meaning that the total went up to 284. No problem - it just meant a couple more trips away enjoying some extra hills. However, the latest official number of Munros has gone down to 282 meaning that although I have already climbed 283 of them there is still one to go.

There is an ever increasing number of health-related, organised events which have greatly improved people's health and fitness by providing incentive, motivation and peer support; Dry January, Couch to 5k to name a couple. Although this method of self-improvement may not suit everyone, evidence suggests that if you can stop smoking for 28 days you are five times more likely to give up for good
